DVD/Blu-ray Release: Dear John

May 25, 2010

Today, Alliance Films’ released the Nicholas Sparks film Dear John on DVD.  Out of the two adaptations of Sparks’ books this year (The Last Song being the other), I personally liked this one better.  The wonderful performance by Richard Jenkins as a man with Aspergers is worth checking out.  We reviewed the film when it opened in theatres on February 5th, our consensus was:

Dear John is a nice romantic movie to see around Valentine’s Day. While the storyline is fairly average in terms of a love story like this, Richard Jenkins’ portrayal of Aspergers’, makes this one worth seeing. It is a fine film that succeeds in what it was trying to be. *** (Out of 4)

About the disc:

The DVD comes in a nicely textured slip-cover, and contains the following special features:

• Alternate ending

• Outtakes

• Deleted and alternate scenes

• A conversation with Channing Tatum, Amanda Seyfried and Lasse Hallström

And more!

Dear John is 108 minutes and is rated PG.
