DVD Release: St. Urbain’s Horseman

June 29, 2010

Today, E1 Films is releasing the CBC mini-series St. Urbain’s Horseman on DVD.  Based on the 1971 book by Mordecai Richler, this is the story of a young man who follows in the footsteps of his cousin, and leaves behind the anti-Semitism of his old neighbourhood, to become a successful film director.  After getting married, he has everything he wanted, but then a scandal ruins his life.

Starring such actors as Andrea Matin, Elliot Gould, and Canadian’s Lianne Balaban and The Trotsky writer/director Jacob Tierney, St. Urbain’s Horseman originally aired on the CBC in September, 2007.  Running for 180 minutes, this is the perfect film to watch, as it originally aired, in 2 segments on DVD.  And as it was a Canadian production, the DVD comes just in time for Canada Day.
