Sidney Lumet (1924-2011)

April 10, 2011

Acclaimed director Sidney Lumet has sadly passed away this past Saturday at his home in Manhattan, due to lymphoma.  He was 86.

With his name behind such great films as 12 Angry Men (1957), Dog Day Afternoon (1975), Network (1976) and most recently Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead (2007), Lumet’s influential career in film and television has lasted more than half a decade.  Lumet surprisingly only received 5 Oscar nominations over the years, and was honoured with a honoury award in 2005.

A great director who has undeniably left his mark on Hollywood, Sidney Lumet will be missed by many.  May he rest in peace.
