The Winners of the 85th Academy Awards

February 24, 2013

The 85th Oscars PosterHosted by Seth MacFarlane, the 85th Academy Awards took place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles tonight, a ceremony that included a few surprises along with the expected but equally deserving winners.  Numerous celebrities were on hand to present and accept the awards, as Argo took home Best Picture at the end of the evening and Life of Pi led the charge with a total of four wins, including Best Director for Ang Lee.  All in all, I was happy with who took home the awards.

Best Supporting Actor went to Christoph Waltz for Django Unchained and Anne Hathaway won Best Supporting Actress for Les Misérables.  Later on, Daniel Day-Lewis won Best Actor for his mesmerizing work in Lincoln and Jennifer Lawrence took home Best Actress for her brilliant performance in Silver Linings Playbook.  The winner of Best Animated Feature was Brave, and the powerful Austrian film Amour won Best Foreign.  We would like to take a moment to say a big congratulations to all of the winners and nominees.

I tweeted my commentary on the awards throughout the evening, and my full thoughts on everything that happened tonight will be coming tomorrow.  Please see below for a complete list of nominees in all of the 24 categories, with the winners highlighted in bold.
