DVD Release: My Old Lady

February 17, 2015

By John Corrado

My Old Lady DVDTwo weeks ago, D Films released My Old Lady on DVD.  When his father dies, depressed New Yorker Mathias Gold (Kevin Kline) returns to the Paris apartment that was left to him with plans to sell the large property, only to find the place occupied by the feisty elderly woman Mathilde (Maggie Smith), and her bitter daughter Chloe (Kristen Scott Thomas).

Directed by Israel Horovitz from his own stage play, My Old Lady works mainly as a three person drama, with an intriguingly dark undercurrent of long buried pain and depression coursing through the well written script.  Effortlessly carried by a trio of outstanding performances from Kevin Kline, Maggie Smith and Kristin Scott Thomas, My Old Lady is well worth a look.  My full review is right here.

The DVD includes an extended interview with Kevin Kline and Israel Horovitz.

My Old Lady is 108 minutes and rated PG.
