Blu-ray Release: Me and Earl and the Dying Girl

October 20, 2015

By John Corrado

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl Blu-rayBack on October 6th, 20th Century Fox released the indie dramedy Me and Earl and the Dying Girl on Blu-ray.  Greg Gaines (Thomas Mann) is an awkward high schooler who makes parodies of classic films with his best friend and co-worker Earl (RJ Cyler).  But Greg’s life changes when he starts hanging out with Rachel Kushner (Olivia Cooke), a classmate who is dying of leukaemia.

Bursting with style and packing in a movie lover’s dream of references, wrapped around a moving and beautifully acted story of friendship, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl is one of those rare dramedies that manages to be both extremely entertaining and genuinely moving.  After earning raves at Sundance, the film deserves to find a bigger audience on Blu-ray, and my full review can be found right here.

The Blu-ray includes commentary with director Alfonso Gomez-Rejon, a conversation between him and Martin Scorsese, deleted scenes, a “making of” featurette, and some of Greg and Earl’s home movies.

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl is 105 minutes and rated PG.
