Blu-ray Release: Monty Python and the Holy Grail: 40th Anniversary Edition
By John Corrado
Today, Sony Pictures is releasing Monty Python and the Holy Grail: 40th Anniversary Edition on Blu-ray. The first of three narrative features created by and starring all six of the Pythons (Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin), this beloved cult classic comedy follows King Arthur and his knights on a quest to find the Holy Grail.
Featuring some of the troupe’s most famous sequences, and a high point for their usual brand of clever satire and often absurdly ridiculous humour, Monty Python and the Holy Grail is one of the all time classic comedies and a crackling historical spoof, that continues to deliver nearly constant laughs after forty years.
The Blu-ray comes packed with bonus features, including a brand new Tribeca Film Festival Q&A with the remaining cast hosted by John Oliver, two commentary tracks, outtakes and extended scenes, lost animations introduced by Terry Gilliam, a special Japanese version, an educational film entitled How to Use Your Coconuts, and some other featurettes.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail is 91 minutes and rated PG.
