Blu-ray Review: Hotel Transylvania 2
By John Corrado
★★★ (out of 4)
Today, Sony Pictures is releasing last year’s popular sequel Hotel Transylvania 2 on Blu-ray. The film opens with the plucky vampire Mavis (Selena Gomez) and human Jonny (Andy Samberg) getting married at the monster hotel. This leads to the birth of their son Dennis, a half-human, half-vampire child that proud grandpa Dracula (Adam Sandler) is desperately trying to help sprout fangs.
As a fan of the first film, Hotel Transylvania 2 is a worthy sequel. Although it’s mildly less inspired overall, the film more than makes up for it by delivering a steady stream of wacky humour, unfolding at a brisk pace that is frequently a blast to watch. Filled with an endless array of gags ranging from amusing to delightfully offbeat, this is a fun animated film that offers something to delight those of all ages.
The Blu-ray includes commentary tracks with director Genndy Tartakovsky and Adam Sandler, deleted scenes, several featurettes, and the Fifth Harmony music video “I’m in Love With a Monster.”
Hotel Transylvania 2 is 89 minutes and rated G.
