Blu-ray Release: Goosebumps

January 26, 2016

Goosebumps Blu-rayToday, Sony is releasing their surprise hit Goosebumps on Blu-ray.  Based on the classic book series, the film follows Zach (Dylan Minette) who has just moved to a new town and befriends the girl next door (Odeya Rush), whose father happens to be author R.L. Stine (Jack Black).  As it turns out, his monsters are all real and kept locked up in books, but when Zach’s friend (Ryan Lee) accidentally opens one of the manuscripts, all hell starts to break loose.

I ended up going to see Goosebumps on Halloween, and am not afraid to say that I enjoyed the hell out of it.  This is a hugely entertaining throwback to classic 1980s horror comedies and coming of age adventures, that is simply a ton of fun from start to finish, and could easily end up becoming an annual favourite.  My full review is right here.

The Blu-ray also includes deleted scenes, an alternate opening and ending, a blooper reel with the cast, actor screen tests, and several other featurettes.

Goosebumps is 105 minutes and rated PG.
