Pixar’s Soul is Now Available on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, DVD and Digital

March 23, 2021

By John Corrado

Pixar’s latest film Soul, which was released to Disney Plus subscribers on Christmas Day, is now available on Blu-ray, 4K Ultra HD, DVD and Digital platforms as of today.

The film follows Joe Gardner (voiced by Jamie Foxx), a middle school band teacher and aspiring jazz musician whose soul leaves his body right after landing his big break. Joe ends up in the ethereal Great Before, and must find his way back to Earth with the help of a cynical soul named 22 (voiced by Tina Fey).

It’s no secret how much I loved this movie. It was not only my pick for the best film of 2020, but I also think it’s one of Pixar’s most mature and artistically daring works. The film is also nominated for three Oscars, including Best Animated Feature, Best Sound, and Best Score for Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross and Jon Batiste’s brilliant musical contributions, which are an integral part of the film. For more on the film itself, you can read my 4-star review of Soul right here.

While I was only sent a digital copy for review, I’m honestly really happy that Soul is getting a physical release, and I’m planning to pick up a copy soon so that I can add it to my shelf alongside every other Pixar film! The Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD editions come with a variety of bonus features, which are also available on select Digital platforms, including:

Featurettes (Previously released on Disney Plus):

Not Your Average Joe

Astral Taffy

Pretty Deep for a Cartoon

Into the Zone: The Music and Sound of Soul

Deleted Scenes:

Soul is now available on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, DVD and Digital platforms. It’s a Disney Home Entertainment release.
